C: View and add Plan Actions, which are specific action items designed to help develop skills within selected Growth Areas.

D: Coming soon! Use Generate Ideas to create custom actions with our Career Coach feature.

E: Add Custom Actions allows you define your own action items by following a series of prompts.

F: Career Vision provides an overview of an employee’s career aspirations based on an individualized assessment.

Career Vision

As a manager, you can collaborate with your team on their Growth Plans to coach them toward career success.

Individuals start by establishing their Career Vision through an assessment that explores their skills, interests, and accomplishments.

Once completed, a personalized Career Vision is generated—outlining their aspirations for now, next, and later. This vision is displayed on the Growth dashboard, serving as a guiding framework for career development planning.

As a manager, your role is to coach and guide your team members, either to help them achieve their vision, or coach them and offer feedback if their goals are not feasible or well aligned with organizational needs. The Career Vision creates transparency into your team members’ aspirations, so you can follow-up with the necessary coaching and guidance.

Growth Areas

Once a team member has a clear Career Vision in place, it’s time to identify areas of opportunity in their skills or experience where they’d like to focus their energy. When reviewing a team member’s plan, you may determine that their Growth Areas align well with your expectations of where they should focus their energy.

However, if you want to guide a team member toward different or additional Growth Areas, you have the ability to do so:

  1. To add areas of opportunity to your team member’s plan, click Add Growth Area.
  2. You’ll see a selection of competencies* tailored to the individual’s current role, along with the option to search for Growth Areas in other internal roles and filter by theme. To add Growth Areas to their plan, select a competency and click Add Growth Area.
  3. To identify their own development opportunities, employees can also add custom Growth Areas by scrolling past the pre-populated options.

  4. Once added, Growth Areas appear in the employee’s personal Growth Plan. To remove a Growth Area, click the hamburger menu on a focus area and select Remove.

*When implementing Growth, admins have the option either to:

  • import their organization’s custom competency framework to define Growth Areas,
  • or utilize Quantum Workplace’s Competency Library and AI technology to map competencies to roles with ease.

Plan Actions

Now that your team member has clearly identified growth opportunities, it’s time to develop an action plan together to help them achieve their goals.

  1. Plan Actions are located just below Growth Areas on each Growth Plan. Review your team member’s actions, to ensure you consider them feasible and well aligned to the individual’s needs, as well as your team’s current priorities.
  2. To add additional action items to their Growth Plan, you can create custom actions or use the Generate Ideas feature with our Career Coach (coming soon!).
  3. By clicking Add Custom Action, prompts will appear to help define your own action items. Once you’ve completed the steps, click Save to add them to their Growth Plan.

Coming soon! Our Generate Ideas feature will suggest potential action items tailored to your team member’s Growth Areas and Career Vision.

  4. Action items will now appear under Plan Actions, including the date they were added, along with options to edit or remove each item.
  5. When your direct report has completed an action item, they can check the corresponding box. The options to edit or remove the action item will be replaced with an archive option. Archiving action items will move them from their Growth Plan to an archived folder, accessible below Plan Actions.
  6. Collaborate with your team member by adding comments in the section below Plan Actions.

Growth Plans serve as a conversation starter between you and your direct report, helping you align on their future goals and support their success.

As their manager, you play a key role in coaching and championing your team’s development. With you in their corner and a clear plan in place, your direct reports will be ready to achieve their career aspirations. Revisit employees’ Growth Plans regularly and address progress in regular 1-on-1 meetings to guide them to success.
