Overview
Assembly uses two types of points to power your recognition and rewards program. Understanding the difference between these points helps you make the most of the platform.
Giving Points

Giving Points, also called your Giving Allowance, are provided by your company for you to distribute to others. Here's what you need to know:
- These points are for giving to your peers through recognition and praise
- They cannot be cashed out or redeemed for rewards
- They expire monthly if not used
- Your Giving Points renew on the first of each month, giving you a fresh allowance to share
Earned Points
Earned Points, also called your Earned Balance, are points you receive from others. Here's how they work:
- You receive them through peer-to-peer recognition from colleagues
- You also earn them by completing Challenges, or through Anniversary or Birthday shout-outs
- These points belong to you and can be cashed out or redeemed for rewards
- You can save your Earned Points and redeem them whenever you choose
- You cannot transfer your earned points to others—only your Giving Allowance can be shared with peers
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to my Giving Points if I don't use them?
Your Giving Points expire at the end of each month and do not roll over. However, your allowance automatically refreshes on the first of the next month.
Can I save my Earned Points?
Yes! Unlike Giving Points, Earned Points don't expire. You can accumulate them and redeem them for rewards whenever you're ready.
