Survey Types

Learn about the different survey types, their focuses, and how to use them to organize your organization's surveys.

Overview

The Survey Type, an editable field in the first step of the survey creation process, makes it easier to find a particular survey or organize multiple surveys of the same type. 

Edit Survey Type

Edit the Survey Type for a Launched Survey

All survey types, except for Engagement and Engagement Follow-Up, can be edited at any time, even after the survey's close date. 

Surveys using the Annual Engagement or Engagement Follow-Up template are locked to the Engagement and Engagement Follow-Up survey types respectively because of the unique features included with these survey types, learn more.

To edit the survey type:

  1. Click and expand Administration in the left-hand navigation menu
  2. Click Surveys & Pulses
  3. Click on the survey to navigate to the survey setup workflow
  4. Click the Details node to navigate to the Survey Details step
  5. Click and expand the Survey Type drop-down menu 
  6. Select the new survey type
  7. Click Next to finalize the update

Edit the Survey Type for a Survey Template

Quantum Workplace's Best Practice survey templates are each assigned to a survey type and automatically default to the specific survey type in the survey setup process. Additionally, custom survey templates can be configured to default to a specific survey type.

To edit the survey type for a survey template:

  1. Click and expand Administration in the left-hand navigation menu
  2. Click Surveys & Pulses
  3. Click on the Templates tab
  4. Click Edit for an existing survey template or click New Template to create a new survey template
  5. In the Template Settings card on the right-hand side, click Survey Type 
  6. Click on the Survey Type drop-down
  7. Select the new survey type
  8. Click Save

Filter & Sort by Survey Type

When viewing the Surveys page, use the Search Options card to select and filter for the relevant survey type(s).

 

When viewing the Surveys homepage via the Administration drop-down in the left-hand navigation menu, click the Survey Type header to sort the list in ascending/descending order. This applies to the All Surveys and the Templates tab.

Candidate Experience

The Candidate Experience survey type gathers information from candidates about their recruitment experience to ensure your organization is engaging prospective employees in the best possible way.

The default survey type for the following Best Practice template:

  • Candidate Experience

Diversity & Inclusion

The Diversity & Inclusion survey type helps to understand your organization's employees' views of inclusion, fairness, equity, respect, and diversity to ensure all of your employees are being engaged at the organizational and team level.

The default survey type for the following Best Practice templates: 

  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Psychological Safety 

Engagement

The Engagement survey type uses annual Engagement survey results to help you identify strengths, opportunities, and which factors are most influencing employee engagement. These results can help your managers make focused, strategic commitments to improve and sustain engagement for their teams. 

If the Annual Engagement template is selected for a new survey, the Survey Type field is not editable.

The Engagement and Engagement Follow-Up survey types include survey reports specific to Engagement surveys, best practice action plans, and interactive walkthroughs to maximize the survey's engagement data.

The default survey type for the following Best Practice template:

  • Annual Engagement

Engagement Follow-Up

The Engagement Follow-Up survey type helps you understand if managers have shared their Engagement survey results and if employees have noticed positive change as a result of the findings in the latest Engagement survey.

If the Engagement Follow-Up template is selected for a new survey, the Survey Type field is not editable.

The Engagement and Engagement Follow-Up survey types include survey reports specific to Engagement surveys, best practice action plans, and interactive walkthroughs to maximize the survey's engagement data. 

The default survey type for the following Best Practice template:

  • Engagement Follow-Up

Exit 

The Exit survey type helps highlight the factors that influenced an employee's decision to leave your organization and their experience prior to departing.

The default survey type for the following Best Practice template:

  • Exit

New Hire

The New Hire survey type helps uncover the experience of new employees so you can optimize their onboarding experience and create a foundation for healthy engagement.

The default survey type for the following Best Practice templates:

  • New Hire (Single Survey Approach)
  • New Hire (1 Week)
  • New Hire (3 Months)
  • New Hire (30 Days)
  • New Hire (6 Months)

Training Feedback

The Post-Training survey type helps gather feedback on specific training, the effectiveness of educational materials, facilitator performance, and overall relevance.  

The default survey type for the following Best Practice template:
