Performance Reviews 101
A quick introduction to important Performance Review terms and concepts.
Employees & Facilitators
Employees and Facilitators are the terms given to the Performance Review participants.
Employees are the participants in the left-hand column in the Performance Review view- typically the direct reports.
Facilitators are the participants in the right-hand column in the Performance Review view- typically the managers.
Action Items
Action Items are notes, tasks, or ideas generated by either Performance Review participant. They are a great way to organize regularly repeating information for easy reference and access.
Action Items automatically remain in future 1-on-1s with the same participants until marked complete or deleted. Learn more about Action Items.
Conversation Boosters
Conversation Boosters are optional enhancements added to a Performance Review template that can be used to pull in Goals and Feedback activity into the Performance Review for discussion. Learn more about Performance Review Boosters.
Performance Review Visibility
By default, the Performance Review participants, upline managers, and full admin users have visibility into a Performance Review. Visibility can be managed from the Performance Review itself. Learn more about Performance Review visibility.
Launch a Performance Review Cycle
As an admin, configure and launch a Performance Review cycle to provide your employees with the space and time to hold productive conversations about a direct report’s performance according to an admin-created template.
Cycles support multiple templates to prompt one group of participants with one template, and another group with a different template.
Learn how to launch a single and/or automated Performance Review cycle with the following step-by-step guides:
- Launch a Single Performance Review Cycle
- Launch an Automated Performance Review Cycle

Performance Review Templates
Use Performance Review templates to configure the question sets for Review participants.
Templates can be customized with a variety of questions, question types, boosters, etc. Additionally, template questions can be customized to show a different version of the question depending on whether they’re the Employee or Facilitator.
The Competency question type and Performance Goal booster are unique to Performance Reviews. Learn more about the different question types.
