How to Filter the Newsfeed

Employees can apply the Around You filter to limit their Newsfeed to content that is most relevant to them

Overview

By default, the Newsfeed on the Home page will display all Recognition and public Goal updates that are taking place throughout your organization.

All users can choose to filter their Newsfeed so that the content that appears there is more relevant to them by applying the Around You, Around You + Downline, or Your Goals filter. Managers will also have the option to apply the Your Direct Reports filter.

Admin users of Quantum Workplace can select a default Newsfeed filter to apply automatically for the entire organization. Admins can also request to enable one additional demographic filter for your organization. 

 

Around You

The Around You filter on the Home Page allows employees to filter their Newsfeed to display Goal updates and Recognition posts that are most pertinent to them. Once an employee applies the Around You filter, the Newsfeed will only display goal updates and recognition from the following individuals:

1. Everyone in the employee's upline (e.g., their direct manager and full upline, including the CEO of the organization)

2. All peers who report to the same direct manager

We particularly recommend the Around You filter to employees of large organizations that generate a high volume of Goal and Recognition posts. 

3. Direct reports (if applicable)

To apply this filter, click the All Activity drop down menu at the top of the Newsfeed. From the dropdown menu, select Around You. 

To remove the Around You filter and return to viewing all posts throughout the organization, click the drop down menu at the top of the Newsfeed and select All. 


Around You + Downline

The Around You + Downline functions similarly to the Around You filter except that, once applied, the Newsfeed will also contain content from all employees in the user's full downline.  Once the Around You + Downline filter has been applied, the user's newsfeed will reflect content from the following groups:

1. Everyone in the employee's upline (e.g., their direct manager and full upline, including the CEO of the organization)

2. All peers who report to the same direct manager

3. Everyone in the employee's downline (if applicable)

To apply this filter, click the All Activity drop down menu at the top of the Newsfeed. From the dropdown menu, select Around You + Downline. 

To return to viewing all posts throughout the organization, click the drop down menu at the top of the Newsfeed and select All. 

Your Goals

All employees have the option to apply the Your Goals filter, which limits the content in the Home Newsfeed to goals that the employee is associated with as either the goal owner, a team member, a contributor, or an observer. Applying the Your Goals filter is an easy way for people who own and contribute to multiple goals to see the recent updates associated with their goals at a glance. 

To apply the Your Goals filter, click the All Activity drop down menu at the top of your Newsfeed and select Your Goals

 

Your Direct Reports

All managers (e.g., every user with one or more direct reports) will have the ability to limit their Home Newsfeed to content that pertains to their direct reports by applying the Your Direct Reports filter.
Your Direct Reports

Applying the Your Direct Reports filter will limit the Newsfeed down to Recognition posts that have been either given or received by one of your direct reports and goal updates posted by any of your direct reports. 

To remove the Your Direct Reports filter, click on the menu at the top of your Newsfeed and select the new filter you would like to apply. Click All to return to viewing all Recognition and Goal posts throughout your organization. 

How to Select a Default Newsfeed Filter for your Organization

As an Admin user, you can choose to turn on a Newsfeed filter for your entire organization. Once applied, every employee would automatically have the filter of your choice applied to their Home Newsfeed, although every employee will have the option to manually change the filter for their own account. 

To select a default Newsfeed filter besides all activity, navigate to General Settings in Administration. From the Newsfeed Settings section,  select whether to apply the Around You or Around You + Downline filter automatically for your employees and click Save Changes. We recommend this option particularly to organizations with several thousand employees who experience a high volume of posts in the Home Newsfeed.

Additional Demographic Filter

As an Admin of Quantum Workplace, you can request to add an additional filter for your organization that is based on one demographic (usually either location or department). Once this filter has been added, employees would be able to apply the filter to see all Goals and Recognition activity in their specific demographic group only. For example, if your company has offices in multiple cities, you could request to include a Location filter that would allow your employees to view activity from their office only. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to add this filter for your organization.
