Overview
As a Goal Owner or Contributor, learn how to update your goals, Key Results, and optionally, track and share your progress with your organization.
Use the Goal Activity Feed to stay up-to-date with recent updates to Key Results and goal completion.
Requirements
- Updating goals is limited to the Goal Owner & Contributor(s)
- Goal activity is visible to the Goal Owner, Contributor(s), and Follower(s), and full admin users
Update Goals
To update a goal:
- Click Goals in the left-hand navigation menu
- Scroll past the Goals Dashboard to view a list of goals
- Identify and click the goal to navigate to the Goal Details page
- There are two ways to update a goal from this page:
- Multiple Key Results: Click Update Goal to view all of a goal's Key Results and make updates to more than a single Key Result (Figure A)
- Individual Key Results: Click Update for the corresponding Key Result to make quick updates to an individual Key Result (Figure B)
Update Multiple Key Results
To update multiple Key Results for a goal at once:
- Optionally, enter information for the following fields (Figure A):
- Describe the Progress: Enter context or additional information for those viewing the update post
- Goal Status: Click and expand the drop-down menu to select a goal status, i.e. Off Track, At Risk, On Track, or No Status
- Visibility: Toggle to specify if goal updates are limited to the Goal Detail page, i.e. Goal Owners, Contributors, and Followers, or visible to the organization via the homepage's Activity Feed, learn more
- Update Key Result progress in one of two ways (Figure B):
- Enter the new total value in the New Total field to update the goal progress
- For example, according to the example goal above, if revenue is increased by $2,000, enter 1,114,000 (1,112,000 + 2,000) to represent the new total
- For incremental changes, use the Change (-/+) field
- For example, according to the example goal above, if revenue is increased by $2,000, enter 2000 into the Change (-/+) field to represent the goal progress. Alternatively, enter the minus icon before the value to represent negative progress
- Enter the new total value in the New Total field to update the goal progress
- Optionally, click the Status drop-down to update the Key Result's progress (Figure B)
- Optionally, attach flair to the update with images or GIFs (Figure C)
- Click Update to finalize Key Result updates
Update Individual Key Results
To update an individual Key Result for a goal:
- Update Key Result progress in one of two ways (Figure A):
- Enter the new total value in the New Total field to update the goal progress
- For example, according to the example goal above, if revenue is increased by $2,000, enter 1,114,000 (1,112,000 + 2,000) to represent the new total
- For incremental changes, use the Change (-/+) field
- For example, according to the example goal above, if revenue is increased by $2,000, enter 2000 into the Change (-/+) field to represent the goal progress. Alternatively, enter the minus icon before the value to represent negative progress
- Enter the new total value in the New Total field to update the goal progress
- Toggle to specify if goal updates are limited to the Goal Detail page, i.e. Goal Owners, Contributors, and Followers, or visible to the organization via the homepage's Activity Feed (Figure B)
- Optionally, click + Add Description and Media to expand a field where you can enter additional information or context (Figure C)
- Optionally, add images or GIFs to the update post (Figure D)
- Click Update
Goal Activity
On the Goal Details page, the Recent Activity section provides a feed of goal updates visible to the Owner, Contributor(s), and Follower(s).
By default, the Recent Activity feed only displays the goal updates. Each update post includes the user and date of the update, the Key Result change, and if included, the description.
Goal Update Visibility
See the following image to distinguish the difference between an update that posts only to the Goal Details page, or to the organization via the homepage's Activity Feed.
- Figure A is an example of a goal update with the Visibility option enabled; this update is limited to the Goal Details page
- Figure B is an example of a goal update with the Visibility option disabled; this update appears on the Goal Details page and the homepage's Activity Feed
Goal Activity Log
Enable the Show All Activity toggle to include additional edits alongside the Key Result updates. Examples of additional edits include updated due dates, updated Goal Members, etc.
