How are Generations Calculated?
For Engagement Survey data, Quantum Workplace groups employees into generations based on their birth date
If your organization provides employee date of birth in your employee demographics file (as part of your survey prep-work with your CSM), you will be able to examine how your Engagement Survey data varies by generation.
For surveys that were built starting November 11, 2019 or after, Quantum Workplace classifies employees as belonging to generations using the cutoffs recommended by the Pew Research Center in 2019:
Generation | Birth Years |
Traditionalists | 1928-1945 |
Baby Boomers | 1946 – 1964 |
Gen X | 1965 – 1980 |
Millennials | 1981-1996 |
Gen Z | 1997- |
For surveys that were built prior to November 11, 2019, Quantum Workplace categorized generations in the following manner:
Generation |
Birth Years |
Traditionalists | 1927-1945 |
Baby Boomers | 1946-1964 |
Gen X | 1965-1983 |
Millennials | 1984-2002 |
