Growth for Admins

The Growth feature helps your organization define the skills needed for each role and empowers employees to build meaningful development plans.

Overview

Supporting employee development is key to a thriving company culture. As an Admin, you play an invaluable role in making sure everything behind the scenes is running smoothly—so Growth can do its job effectively.

You’ll manage key Growth elements: Job Profiles, Competencies, mappings, and more.

Let’s walk through Growth Admin together to help you confidently and efficiently power your employees’ development journeys.

This guide covers:

🧭 Navigating Growth Admin

To get started:

  1. Go to Administration in the left-hand menu
  2. Click Growth

Here you’ll find:

  • Settings
  • Job Profiles

⚙️ Settings

In Settings, you can configure the backend experience for employees using Growth.

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the relocation question in the Career Vision assessment
  • Choose how to group roles in Job Explorer
  • View any active competencies at a glance

✅ Don’t forget to click Save after making changes!

To edit or manage your competencies, dive into the Competencies resource here.

📘 Job Profiles

The Job Profiles tab is where you’ll manage which roles are included in Growth and what information users can see about those roles.

Growth automatically detects Job Profiles based on Quantum Workplace user data, which is typically derived from HRIS integrations or managed manually in Administration>Users. When you first log in, all jobs will appear as New. You’ll need to review them and decide which to Activate (include in Growth) or Exclude (leave out).

🔁 Bulk Update Job Status

  • Select jobs using checkboxes
  • Click Activate or Exclude

Active = visible in Growth
Excluded = hidden from Growth
⚠️ New = not yet reviewed

📝 Job Descriptions

Adding Job Descriptions is optional—but highly recommended. They give helpful context for competency mapping (especially with AI) and provide useful context for your employees exploring opportunities in the Job Explorer.

You can:

  • Add descriptions one by one
  • Or import them in bulk

✏️ To add manually:

  1. Go to Job Profiles
  2. Click Edit next to a job
  3. Add your description
  4. Click Save

📥 To import in bulk:

  1. Click Bulk Actions> Import Job Updates
  2. In the pop-up window, download the Jobs File
  3. Open and edit the file, then save
  4. Click Choose File and upload
  5. Once uploaded, descriptions will appear in the relevant Job Profiles

🧠 Competency Mapping

This is where Growth connects the dots—linking skills to roles and powering employee development plans and insights.

As a first step, it is essential to finalize your organization’s competencies in Competency management. From there, you have three options:

✅ Option 1: Use AI Competency Mapper (Recommended)

📝Note: While Growth supports competencies without a leveling system, our AI Mapper requires leveled competencies to function.

  1. In Job Profiles, select the jobs you want to map
  2. Click Map Competencies
  3. Choose the number of competencies per role (we suggest 5–7)
  4. Click Generate Mapping File
    • ⏱ This may take 30–180 minutes
  5. Once ready, download the file
  6. Re-upload it via Bulk Actions > Import Competency Mapping File

💡 Job Descriptions are not required, but improve AI mapping results.

📥 Option 2: Manual Import

This works best if your company already has predefined competency mappings.

  1. Click Bulk Actions > Import Competency Mapping File
  2. Download the template and instructions
  3. Complete it with your data
  4. Upload the file
  5. Review and fix any errors flagged during validation

✍️ Option 3: Add Competencies Manually

  1. In Job Profiles, click Edit next to a job
  2. Add or update competencies
  3. Click Save

🔄 Keeping Growth Up to Date

As your company grows, new roles will be created and updates will roll in. Here’s a few tips to manage things over time:

  • New jobs will default to New—review and set them to Active or Excluded
  • Update job descriptions or competencies as needed
  • Adjust permissions in User Management to control Growth access
