FAQ: Can I Edit My 1-on-1, Performance Review, or Talent Review Template?
Use this decision tree to determine what edits can be made to a template depending on the cycle status.

Overview
Determining what can and cannot be edited and when during 1-on-1 or Review Cycles is important for managing cycles as an Admin!
Use this decision tree to guide you on whether or not you can make updates to your template after launch.
For 1-on-1s or Reviews:
1. Has the cycle been launched?
→ No
→ ✅ You can edit question text
→ ✅ You can add new questions (they will appear in the cycle)
→ ✅ You can update “Include in overall score”
→ Yes
2. Have any responses been submitted?
→ No
→ ✅ You can edit question text (will show to users)
→ ⚠️ You can add questions (will not appear in current cycle, only future ones)
→ ✅ You can update “Include in overall score”
→ Yes
3. Do you want to edit existing question text?
→ Yes
→ ⚠️ This will create a new version of the question
- Users who have responded will see both versions
- Users who haven’t responded will see only the edited version
→ ✅ You can update “Include in overall score”
For Talent Reviews:
A. Have participants been added to the participant screen?
→ No
→ ✅ You can freely edit the template (questions, feedback groups, etc.)
→ Yes
→ ⚠️ The template is now considered utilized
- Editing question text will create a new question
- ✅ Template changes will not impact the current cycle
- ❌ Feedback groups can no longer be edited
Example:
If Zane is added on 3/26 to a cycle with Template_A (launching 4/1), that template is locked on 3/26.
Need to make changes after participants were added?

❌ Don’t edit the template directly

✅ Remove participants, update the template, then re-add participants and relaunch the cycle
Launching a Test Cycle?

It's best to make changes directly to the template first.

Then, launch a new cycle to ensure all edits apply correctly.
